First, plan for cabinets. If your garage is also a workshop, you will want cabinets that work with and around your tools, supplies and workbenches. If you and your family have a lot of sports equipment, you will need to plan on the best way to store those, as well. Gardeners will need shelves for storing seed, fertilizers, pots, and stakes. It pays to take some time to think about the dimension and total amount of cabinet storage you need to get things up off the floor and out of dark corners.
There are many options when it comes to garage storage and if you are looking for garage cabinets, then plastic cabinets are definitely an option if you are looking to save money but still have a nice look to your garage space. With the lower price point however, comes some problems that you will not find in say metal garage cabinets. When you look at the pros and cons of plastic garage cabinets, you will be able to see if they do not offer some things that you may be looking for in a storage solution, or if the price is low enough that you are willing to settle for what they offer.
However cabinets do not have to cost a fortune and can easily be installed yourself with a few simple tools. Garage cabinets are modular, meaning you can pick and choose from a number of sizes (modules) to suit your needs or to fit around existing obstructions such as hot water heaters, switches or doors. We will look at a few different cabinet styles and discuss the advantages of each type.
Garage cabinets are the perfect solution for storing and organizing tools, garden supplies, and sports equipment. There is nothing more frustrating than not being able to find the things you need in the random piles that are all too often found in the average garage. With adequate storage in garage cabinets, you can even park your car in the garage with room to spare.
Garage cabinet system is the more convenient way to store things so that when you step into your garage, you know exactly where that long rope for your hammock is stored without pulling the whole place down and where to find that tool box to repair your kids bike. This is the basic idea of creating storage in garage - to organize things, sort them out and spend the least amount of time in searching for them.
Remember the last time you walked though a house as a potential buyer? Imagine opening the door from the house to the garage and finding clean and generous garage cabinets. In different sizes. Some with doors, some open shelving. And everything stored away, neatly. Nice, eh? Now imagine opening the same door into the garage and seeing storage solutions composed of boxes stacked on top of other boxes, tools leaning against the wall and piles of sports equipment, off-season clothing and other "stuff" just strewn around. Clearly the first picture is more attractive. But, as you think about buying the house, how much more would you pay for the first house, the one with the well-organized garage space?
