However, plywood cabinets are generally more or equally durable when compared to wooden cabinets made from other types of wood. Which of these cupboard types is ideal for a garage can be decided based on what is to be stored in it.
There are many options when it comes to garage storage and if you are looking for garage cabinets, then plastic cabinets are definitely an option if you are looking to save money but still have a nice look to your garage space. With the lower price point however, comes some problems that you will not find in say metal garage cabinets. When you look at the pros and cons of plastic garage cabinets, you will be able to see if they do not offer some things that you may be looking for in a storage solution, or if the price is low enough that you are willing to settle for what they offer.
On the flip side, there are several disadvantages to owning plastic garage containers that may make you want to consider some other alternatives: 1. Weight Load - plastic cabinets are not going to be able to carry as much weight as steel cabinets do. Overtime, if you load down the cabinets with heavy items, the plastic shelves will become warped. 2. Doors - as time goes on, plastic cabinets with locks or latches become harder to close and eventually will warp. One of the benefits of going with garage cabinets over garage shelves is the ability to lock up things out of reach from the children. If a latch or lock is going to stop working over time, you lose out on one of the key benefits of the storage. 3. Durability - over time, plastic can become broken or damaged. There is a chance after several years you may be looking to replace them if you do not treat them properly when taking items out or putting things away. 4. Stains - while plastic shelves are easy to clean, if there is a chemical spill, depending on the type of liquid, it can stain the cabinets, thus ruining the color and the appearance.
Another thing to factor in your decision is if the units are able to be wall mounted or if they will have to sit on the floor. If they do need to stay on the floor, do the garage cabinets come with legs or rollers for ease of moving or do they sit flat on the floor with nothing underneath? The use of garage cabinets is one of many great ways to an organized garage. garage cabinets come in so many shapes and sizes that you will almost certainly find one or a combination of a few that will meet your storage needs. You can store anything you can think of in these units as long as the items will physically fit in there.
What type of garage cabinets will add the most value? The answer to that question is two-fold. The first has to do with the inherent attractiveness, quality and style of the cabinets themselves. And the second has to do with flexibility and how well the storage solutions match with what a new buyer will likely want.
